Jimmy was born to Betty Gomez and Frank Villa in Post, TX on April 21, 1955; and entered into his heavenly home on August 30, 2023. He spent his early adolescence in Post, TX before heading to the plains of Kansas, where he attended Garden City High School. He started his family in 1975 with the birth of his daughter, Billie, and later his son Heath, in 1979.
He apprenticed with Garden City Electric learning his trade as a lineman, and began lighting the way from Garden City, KS to Lubbock, TX, which he did for over 40 years. Jimmy contributed to various projects in the city, teaching safety and conservation to over 1700 elementary school students. He continued to help mentor and inspire his fellow linemen until his retirement earlier this year.
Jimmy was described by his friends as a “lineman’s lineman,” and that if you were a part of Jimmy’s inner circle, you were loved. To them, the world is a lesser place without his presence.
Jimmy loved classic rock, old westerns, tending to his garden, and doting on his wife. He was partial to Taco Villa’s cold tea on a hot day, Montelongo’s migas, and a good burger.
He was an iron-willed, persistent, persnickety man who had a heart of gold and loved his family. He showed them the love of a lifetime in only a few short years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Karen; his daughter, Jamie Marie Villa; and sister, Cynthia Martinez.
He is survived by his daughter Billie (JC) Culbertson, his grandchildren; Mariah (Luke) Mitchell, their children; Beau LaBeause, Beida LaBeause, Bennett LaBeause, and John Thomas Mitchell; Mason Culbertson, and McKayla Culbertson; and his son, Heath Villa (Jennifer Walker) and his grandson, Gavin Villa; siblings: Danny Villa, Mark Cruz, Melissa Castro, Tony Villa; and numerous other relatives and friends.
