Joan M. Cea

Joan Cea of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2018. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 30, 1931. Joan graduated from Boardman High School in Youngstown. She was married to Michael Frank Cea in October of 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Joan and her husband Mike opened Orlando’s Italian Restaurants in Lubbock, Texas in 1965.

Joan had a passion for her Catholic faith and family. Joan also loved to read and do anything out doors.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Michael, brothers Tom, Ray, and Don and sisters Peg, Al, Fran, Jane and Ann.

Joan is survived by her son David Cea and wife Cheryl of Lubbock, Texas and daughter Karen Katnik and husband Steve of Howell, Michigan. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren Justin, Dominic, Danica, Austin, Denali, Cheradyn, Camryn and great grandson Tucker.

The family would like to thank the staff of Legacy of the South Plains Lubbock for the excellent care given during her time in Lubbock.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 with the Rosary to be held at 7 PM at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Celebration of Christian Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Christ the King Cathedral School Foundation to establish a scholarship fund in memory of Joan Cea. Joan was an avid supporter of Catholic Education. Memorials can be mailed to the school address - 4011 54th St., Lubbock, TX 79413.
