

Joann Duncan, born July 1, 1951, passed away on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Joann lived a life marked by kindness, service, and an unwavering dedication to others.
Joann was married to her beloved husband, Craig Duncan, for 54 years—a partnership rooted in loyalty, and deep affection. Together they built a life rich in family, faith, and shared experiences.
An enthusiastic educator, Joann spent 15 years teaching, finishing her career in La Vernia, Texas, where she taught sixth grade and influenced countless young lives with her patience, creativity, and genuine care for her students. Before her years in the classroom, she was committed to service while working at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and becoming a certified buyer for the State of Texas, a role she held for 10 years.
Joann loved to travel to many of the national and state parks throughout Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Montana.
Joann is survived by her husband, Craig Duncan; her daughter, Lara Leigh Neeley and her husband, Ty; her sister, Carolyn Sutton and her husband, Don; her brothers, John Elliott, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn; Michael Elliott and Pam Grabsky; Brother-in-law Roger Duncan and his wife, Norma; along with her nephews Roger, Jr., Travis and Luke; her nieces Melissa and Heather; and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces, who loved her dearly. She will also be missed by her precious cat, Porky, who brought her comfort and joy.
A service to honor Joann’s life will be held at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, Lubbock, Texas, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
