Joe G. Nix

Joe G. Nix was called Home by His Heavenly Father on August 1, 2013. There he will be reunited with his son, Franklin Gayle Nix, his parents, Rev. J.F. Nix and Bertha Whitlock Nix, as well as five siblings.

Joe was born October 17, 1925 in Clovis, New Mexico where he lived as a child. The Family later moved to Texas where Joe graduated from Abernathy High School and later he attended Texas Tech University where he graduated. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII as a ball turret gunner. Retiring from Unisys Corp., Joe worked for Bill Russell Insurance Agency for several years before succumbing to the call of the golf course. Always an avid Red Raider fan, Joe enjoyed many years as a season ticket holder cheering on the football and basketball teams.

A devoted and loving husband and father, Joe is survived by his caring and dedicated wife of 62 years Francis Nix, his son Stacy Nix and wife Kecia of Lubbock, his daughter-in-law Nona Nix of Midland, sister Beth Wallace of California, sister-in-law Jean Nix of Waco and brother-in-law Randall Carpenter and wife Delores of Lubbock. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rebecca Granbery and husband David of Flower Mound, Kyle Nix and wife Eva of Dallas, Brett Nix and fiancé Courtney Stasney of Mason, Allison Zachry and husband Casey of Midland, Brooklyn and Campbell Nix of Lubbock, six great grand children Carter Anne, Marshall and Presley Nix, Grayson and Analisa Zachry, Lincoln Granbery and many nieces and nephews

Joe was a man slow to anger, quick to smile, laugh, and share a funny story. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Mr. Nix will be held Sunday August 4, 2013 from 4-6 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Monday August 5, 2013 10AM at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
