

Joel Garza was promoted to glory on July 10, 2026, at 9:30am at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Victoria, TX on October 11, 1953, to Andres and Delores Garza. He graduated from Memphis High School on May 19, 1972.
Joel married Janie Ybarra on July 17, 1999. He was an active member of The Salvation Army Church Men’s Club and Disaster Team. Joel volunteered in many areas when needed.
Joel was an avid fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. He was anxiously waiting for their next Superbowl win. Joel was also known to make a “Killer” hot sauce.
Joel is survived by his wife, Janie Garza, two sons, Eli Garza (Jasmine) and Julian Deleon, stepson, Frank (Dora) Ybarra, Stepdaughters Isabel (Wayne) Dotson and Pauline (Jonathan) Ibarra, and Angelica Ybarra, a grand daughter he helped raise and a grandson, Frankie Adams.
He is also survived by his siblings; Arturo (Janie) Garza, Gabriel (Olga) Garza, Israel (LaVern) Garza, Moises and Johnny Garza, Sisters- Sarah (Hilton) Beam, Sylvia Garza, and Angie Stout.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Delores Garza, brothers- Andres Jr, Joe, Mathias, a sister Yolanda Ramos, and a stepson Fernando Ybarra
He will be greatly missed by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends.
