John Bean, aged 71, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on April 21, 1954, in Redrock, Arizona, to John Bean and Dollie Sumner, and was raised by Bill and Judy Humphreys. John was a lifelong example of devotion and hard work, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life.
John graduated from Lubbock High School in 1972. Shortly after he honorably served in the United States Army until 1974, before embarking on a successful career as the owner of Bean Roofing, a role that allowed him to demonstrate his dedication to quality and service. His work not only provided for his family but also built a legacy in the roofs over many homes and businesses.
John married his wife Montiene on July 3, 2001 and together they raised four children. John will always be remembered for his passion for hunting, fishing and sports.
He is survived by his wife, Montiene Bean; his mother, Judy Humphreys; his brothers, Jim Bean (Jeannie) and William Humphreys; his stepson, Chad Stovall (Ramona); and his grandchildren, Tristan Goode, Kristan Lopez (Trey), and Taylor Stovall. John also leaves behind his niece, Kylie Canfield. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Mekesha Stovall; his grandparents, Alfred and Evelyn Glawe; his father, Bill Humphreys; and his brother, David Humphreys.
His life will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him, as a man who built more than just roofs, but a community of love and respect around him.
A visitation for John will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th Street, Lubbock, TX, 79407. Graveside service will be Tuesday November 18, 2025 at 1:00pm at Resthaven Memorial Park.
