

John Chance passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019. We will gather for the reciting of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, followed by a time of sharing and fellowship at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated in honor of John’s 44 years of life at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.John was born and raised in Slaton and was the youngest of three siblings. He graduated from Slaton High School and attended Western Texas College. In high school, John enjoyed playing basketball, golf, football, soccer and hanging out with his friends. John and his friends loved spending time together making memories that they still talk about today.John loved music, tailgating and having friends over for BBQs to try his jalapeño poppers or homemade carne guisada. John had a smile that was contagious, and he loved to make people laugh with his witty humor. One of John’s jokes could keep you doubled over in laughter. In his spare time, you would catch him riding his Harley or playing a round of golf.John was a very generous and giving person, and through his generosity, he was always willing to lend a hand and help whenever needed. He had an uncanny ability to reach people deeply and positively. With his handsome good looks and charming personality, he was loved by all who met him, and friends and family adored him.His personable nature, diligence, loyalty, and integrity lead to a successful career working in commercial lighting sales.John fell in love with Stacy the moment he laid his eyes on her and complimented her so much he would make her blush. They had a wonderful and event-filled life together vacationing on beaches in Mexico and taking their two beautiful boys to Cowboy, Mavericks, Rangers and Texas Tech games. He loved Blaise and Slade and spent every waking moment he could with them.Survivors include his wife, Stacy; their children, Blaise Domingo and Slade Elijah Chance; parents, Royce and Treasure Chance; siblings, Kathy Mills and husband, Leroy; and Michelle Chance; in-laws, Charles and Mary Bentancourt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura Bentancourt and Daniel Schilling; and Gabriel Betancourt; niece, Marissa Schilling; nephews, Travis Schilling; Leroy, Blake, Dillon, Chance, and Cody Mills; Michael Shawn Murphy and Christopher Bryan; and grandmother-in-law, Bersabe Gurule.
