John L. Dixon

John L Dixon, 71, passed away Friday July 18, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born June 6, 1943 in Corsicana TX. John served in the US Army after high school. He worked for Furs Meat Packing for 28 years and for Sun Star Electronics.

John is survived by his wife Betty; 2 children, Eric Dixon and Jacqueline Zamora; 2 grandchildren, Malcolm and William Dixon White; his step-mother, Amice Dixon; 3 brothers, Princell Dixon, Mark and Karl Taylor; and 2 sisters, Brenda Thornton and Teresa Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents, Persell and Willie Bell Dixon; sister, Willie Mae Hilburn and stepbrother, Billy Wayne Owens.

Visitation will be held Tuesday July 22, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 23 at 1:00 pm in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel followed by burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Doctors, nurses, staff and chaplains at CMC for care. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.
