John Wayne Scott went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2014. He was born in Sweetwater, TX on July 28, 1937 to John and Myrtle Scott. John moved to Lubbock in 1961 and opened the first Pinkies Bar-B-Que in the county on E FM 835. He ran the Bar-B-Que until his retirement in 2008. If you ate any Bar-B-Que from Pinkies during that time period he cooked it, start to finish. John Wayne was also a fan of nicknames and if you had a nickname, you were someone special to him. His nickname was "Mutt." Mutt was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy "Chicken" Scott, his parents and one brother. He is survived by his three brothers, three sisters, seven children, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight March 11, 2014 in Resthaven Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday March 12th at 1:00 pm in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel followed by burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
