Johnny G. Sarate, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 19, 2025. Born on November 6, 1950, Johnny lived a life grounded in simplicity, love, and deep devotion to his family.
Johnny spent many years working for the Sheriff’s Department, where he was known for his caring nature, steady presence, and sharp memory. He made Austin, Texas his home until 2010, when he relocated to Lubbock to be closer to loved ones.

Johnny found comfort in life’s simple pleasures: enjoying a good football game on TV, watching the Texas Rangers, and treating himself to popcorn and pizza—his favorite pastime combination.
Johnny is survived by his two children, Jeanne Guajardo and her husband Chris Guajardo, and Johnny Sarate and his wife Juanita Garcia his grandkids and great grandkids; his sisters Mary Martinez Flores, Dora Rincon, and Beatrice Sarate; his brothers Joe Sarate and Henry Sarate; and his cherished grandchildren J.T.
