

Jon played football, basketball, tennis, and golf at Wilson High School where he graduated in 1980, and he enjoyed playing in youth league baseball. Jon married his wife, Laurie, in 1992 and they had 33 happy years of marriage.
He got a late start in his college studies, but he received his Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management from Texas Tech in 2008, and he earned his teaching certification in social studies in 2014. Jon had many jobs over his lifetime, but he especially enjoyed dealing blackjack while living in Las Vegas and teaching history in high schools in Texas.
Jon could talk to anyone anywhere and find some topic of interest in common. He enjoyed watching Texas Tech and the Dallas Cowboys play football, and he loved traveling to the mountains or the beach whenever he could. Over the past decade, Jon enjoyed taking several cruises with Laurie to Mexico and the Caribbean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Vera Cox, and his father-in-law, John D. Foreman.
Jon is survived by his wife Laurie Cox, daughter Codi Wiley, grandaughter Sarah Franco, sister Kimberly (Jonson) Sandberg, and brother Dan Cox.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law Jacque Foreman, sister-in-law Sharee (Gary) Nieder, nieces Anna Sandberg and Evaine (Steven) Crane, nephews Graham (Madeline) Nieder and Micah Nieder, aunts Pam (Bill) Hillen and Diane (Jack) Cody, uncle C.G. Dodd, and several cousins.
Memorials in his honor may be made to a local ASPCA or animal shelter.
