Jose Ignacio Marquez

He will be remembered in a Rosary on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Jose was born in Estacion Las Cruses, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married his wife of 55 years Anselma Rodriguez in 1949. He came to the United States in the late 50's to work in the Brazero Program and brought his family in the early 60's to provide a better life for them. He worked in farming until his retirement. His longest employment was for Randall Roper in Olton. He moved to Hereford in 1984 and then to Lubbock in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anselma in 2004.

He is survived by his nine children. Thomas (Emma) Marquez of Montrose, Iowa; Emiliano (Maria Elena) of Allen, Texas; Ramon Marquez of McKinney, Texas; Joseph (Adela) Marquez of Belton, Texas; Esiquio (Rosa) Marquez of Garland, Texas; And Lucy (Mario) Perea, Mary (Tony) Rodriguez; Raul (Terri) Marquez; and Alice (Joel) Torres of Lubbock, Texas. Brother Manuel Marquez of Cardenas, Chihuahua, Mexico. Sisters Josefa Gonzales of Cardenas, Chihuahua, Mexico; Elisa Delgado and Lupe Vara of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
