I have known Joe since I was 8yrs old.  We were close neighbors, and we went to Haynes Elementary, Evans Junior High, and Lubbock High together. We rode bikes together as children, played football, baseball, basketball, trampolined (at the Seahorse swimming pool), jumped ramps and skateboarded…he especially loved going to 7-Eleven with rolls of quarters where we would play video games for hours.  He liked to torture me…pulled my hair all the time, poked me, called me names, dunked me in the pool, and generally antagonize me every day walking home from school.  My favorite memories of him were riding on his bicycle handle bars as little kids…of course he always had to head butt me in the back just to torture me.  He once sat on me in the pool in about 5 ft of water and I swear I thought I was going to die.  He as well as “the band”were excellent to say the least. My brothers and Mother loved him dearly…especially my mother…she gave him a perm when his hair was really long…to complete his rocker look😊  Lots of stories to tell throughout all these years…I was blessed enough to see him when I would visit Lubbock when my mother was ill, which was often…another favorite memory was having a nice dinner with Joe, his mother, and my little brother Tony…we were all grown up and you can bet, she heard some stories she probably didn’t want to hear.  I spoke to him often and texted…right up to the end…I am still in shock.  I miss his laughter, the songs he would text- Tesla, Ratt, and more.  He literally was making fun of me just a few weeks ago…Akra...when my deaf cousin would visit us, this is what she would call me. He was a kind soul…I have loved him since I was 8yrs old and always will.  I know he missed his mother and know that he is now in peace and with her in God’s hands. I met Joe in second grade. I dont have a ton of life-long friends like that, and the older I get the more I realize the chance to make life long friends comes at a time when you least appreciate them, and the time you appreciate them the most often comes at a time when you can only reflect and wish you had spent more time together. I absolutely loved playing music with him and had very memorable moments. I am sorry to see him go so soon. So long Joe, Thanks.


Joe was my life and my love.  I miss him more each passing day.  One of the things that I loved about him though, was his love for his friends and family.  He was so animated and happy when he would share the stories about his life and the people that he loved.  There are  some that don't even know how much he cared about them.  He loved deeply for so many.  He was and always will be a good soul.  The world could use more people like him.  What a loss it truly is.  I miss  you baby! All my love, Always.


Uncle Joe will be missed dearly. I remember him spending lots of time at my house as I was growing up and going on a trip to Colorado with him. He was such a tender heart and good soul. It was such a blessing to see him once more about a month before his passing. We shared some laughs, a couple tears, but mostly lots of hugs ♥️

Joe was always a good brother to me. I have many fond memories. One memory that makes me laugh every time I think of it was a time when Joe was spending the summer with us at my Dad's in Albuquerque.  We were sitting on the back porch and I'm pretty sure we had been "partying" a little LOL but he was sitting across from me on the porch and I was watching this big bug crawl up the arm rest of my chair. The whole time it was getting closer and closer to my hand I was plotting to flick the bug at Joe in an attempt to scare him. Well he must have been reading my mind because at the very instant that I flicked that big ol ugly bug at him without even looking at me he swatted it right back in my lap causing me to LEAP out of the chair and almost fall off the porch! Any of you that know me knows I'm terrified of bugs so after I had mustered up all the courage to flick it at him he really returned the favor! I laugh every time I think of that. You are gone way too soon little brother. I love you Joe,  RIP

I met Joe in 9th grade at a talent show for a rival junior high through a mutual friend Don McGurn.
That was the beginning of the high school band “reaction”. Playing at abbey road with Leroy, Robbie, Joe, and John felt like celebrity status. I remember the “Leroy and Joe walking home” story that Leroy tells first hand and it is just as funny second hand. One memory burned in my mind is when Joe borrowed his uncles car (a real cream puff) and was able to get it to burnout in all three gears, then returning it to his unsuspecting uncle with that innocent look. We had some great times together, wherever one went, we all went. Great memories, RIP Joe! See you on the other side

I met Joe in reading class in 7th grade at Evans junior high.  There we met Robby Smith and Don Mcgurn and so many other friends.  We lived a good life together.  We loved telling stories of our past.  We could laugh for hours talking about the fun times we’ve had.  The all time best is having to walk home from a football game at Monterey high when Joe realized he was about to shit his pants.  He made me laugh the whole way home.  We walked through the alley so we wouldn’t have to see anyone but the dogs in the back yards could smell him and started barking so we had to run.  Kay was so mad when we got home.  She wouldn’t  let him in the house so he stripped in the front yard and she hoses him off.  
This ones for you Joe.  I’ll sure miss you.
