

He attended Roosevelt Schools from Kindergarten through his Senior year, where he excelled in academics as well as in athletics and won many awards. After graduating from high school, Josh went on to graduate from South Plains College, earning an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. It was his athletic ability that continued him onto Wayland Baptist University, where he participated in baseball and track. Josh earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Administration with a minor in Sociology. Soon after earning his degree, he joined the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office working in the Jail Detention Division. Josh graduated from the 74th Basic Peace Officer Academy on October 1, 2010. On November 23, 2010, Josh was sworn in as Deputy for the LSO. There was much yet to be accomplished.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandfather Mauro Rocha and Uncle Arturo Rene (Ronnie) Rocha of Lubbock.
Those left to cherish his memory and celebrate his new life include: his loving mother Mary and his most loved younger brother Dustin of Idalou; his beloved grandmother Leonor Rocha of Lubbock; his inspiring Uncle Mauro (Julia) Rocha of Lubbock; his most cherished Uncle Jose Reyes Rocha of Lubbock; his crazy but funny Uncle Homer (Laurie) Rocha of Cedar Park; his sincere Aunt Ida (James) Mitchell of Lubbock; his most daring Aunt Amelia (Chris) Thompson of Plainview; his cousin but considered brother from other mother Matthew Joseph (Joey) Rocha; and numerous loving and caring cousins.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm with rosary being said at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at Woodrow San Ramon Catholic Church, Old Hwy 87, South of Cemetery, with Father Nelson Diaz officiating at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Resthaven Funeral Home.
