Joyce June Jones passed away on November 30, 2018. She was born November 25, 1933 in Clarksville, Texas to George and Winona (Denny) Thomas. She moved to Lubbock with her family in 1947. She attended Lubbock High School.
She retired from TTUHSC where she worked as the Residency Coordinator for the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. She was previously employed at American General Insurance and Westmont Christian Church. She married Richard Jones in 1993. She attended First Church of the Nazarene.
Joyce had a unique, lively spirit and was a fun, feisty, loving woman who enjoyed violets, painting, dancing, and shopping but most importantly her family. She instilled in her daughters the love of animals. Time spent with her grandchildren was time she treasured.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Richard, daughters Sheri Lusk (Wolfforth) and Marla (Eric) Williams (Cedar Park). She was Nana J to grandchildren Eric Lusk, Merilee Williams and Katie Williams, great grandchildren Tori Brown and Xan Lusk. She is also survived by two brothers – Denny (Brenda) Thomas, Jerald (Kay) Thomas and sister Teresa Swint, step-children Dick (Debbie) Jones, Debby (Larry) Stewart, and Beth (Tom) Brown and a host of other family members and her loyal dog Sallie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Thomas and brother-in-law Steve Swint.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, December 5th at 1:00pm at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with nephew Shane Swint officiating.
