1929 to Earl Benton Bennett and Alma George Bennett.
She graduated fromLinden-Kildare High School, studied music at Centenary College and completed her undergraduate degree in music from the University of Texas. Joyce met the love of her life, William Stanley Ullom, at Tulane University where he was in medical school with her brother. They married on April 13, 1951, and lived in New Orleans until late 1952.
Dr. Ullom entered the Air Force, which stationed them in Tuscon, Arizona and later in Great Falls, Montana. Eventually they settled in Lubbock, Texas where Dr. Ullom practiced medicine until 1999. Joyce was a homemaker, supporting her husband in his busy practice, and as a wonderful Christian mother, rearing their four children to serve God with their lives. She was involved with her children’s many school activities, sorority Gamma Phi Beta, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Medical Society, several churches, the Downtown Bible Class.
Joyce lived in Bozeman, Montana from 2005 to 2013, where her husband of 57 years passed away in 2008. In 2013 she moved to Fairview, Texas to live near three of her four children.
Joyce is survived by her only sibling and his wife George Earl and Inagene Bennett, her four children and their spouses Suzanne and Walter Johnson, William Stanley (“Stan”) Ullom, Jr. and Cheryl, Brian Bennett and Louise Ullom, and Rebecca and Beta Ruefer, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a dear cousin Jana Daniels, and several nieces, nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
