He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Sara Perez, brothers Pete, Sixto, and David Perez, sisters Isabel Perez and Fidencia Perez Reyes, daughter Christina Perez and grandson, Fabian Perez.
Julian Perez was raised in Slaton, Texas as part of a large family. He was a hard worker and attended school at Slaton High School. Julian learned the trade of heating and air conditioning/fabrication and worked until he retired in 2014.
He married the love of his life, Polly on January 23, 1988. He was an active member of Colgate Church of Christ. He was a passionate member of LULAC. He received the Member of the Year Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication to LULAC in 2017 and the Council President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the Hispanic Community in 2018. One of his greatest accomplishments was his work with the golf tournament that raised funds for scholarships. Julian had a passion for improving the lives of our youth. He was a Little League coach for 19 years and he also umpired for many years. He was a member of the American GI Forum through which he brought joy to so many children’s lives as he was the beloved Pancho Clos for over 20 years Above all, Julian's greatest love belonged to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Perez of Lubbock, his children: Cindy Velazquez of Buda, Julian Perez, Jr of Plainview, Sandra White and husband Derek of Lubbock, and Susan Perez of Lubbock, Richard Rodriguez of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle Reid of Lubbock, Melanie Inman and husband Jim of Lubbock, and Enrique Garcia and wife JoAnn of Lubbock, brother, Ascencion Perez, Sr, sisters, Rosa Perez LeBlanc, Mary Hernandez, Elaine Pena, Margaret Gonzales, 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
“Live a life that outlives you”Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 am, June 12, 2018 at Colgate Church of Christ with Emilio Rubio officiating. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery, Slaton, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Monday, June 11, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
