

June Elizabeth McMurrey, 83-years old, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013. She was a devoted wife for 64 years, a loving mother, and a friend to all that knew her. She never met a stranger and will always be remembered for her vivacious personality and caring spirit. She was an active member of Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX and a patron to many local charities and organizations. June was a very talented artist and skilled seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful quilts and exquisite paintings for all to enjoy. She was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking with her husband.
She is survived by her husband Charles E. McMurrey; son Steven E. McMurrey and wife SherryRae of Seabrook,TX, son Brian E. McMurrey and wife Elisa of Midland,TX; brother Ivy Lee Thomas and wife Lili of Swansboro, NC, brother Jerry Thomas of Mesquite, TX, sister Marcelle LeGallo and husband Tim of San Antonio,TX, sister Andra Tonroy and husband Bart of Decatur,TX, sister Allana Holmes of Lubbock,TX; grandchildren DeWayne E. McMurrey, Cassie Dominguez, Sara McMurrey, Marisa Daniel, Bryttanie Glaser, Braunwyn Glaser, Kylie Reimert, and Hannah Reimert; great grandchildren Zachary Dill, Bryce & Baylie Dominguez and Jaron Galazios.
June was a woman of faith and the heart of the McMurrey family. She lived by the words of one of her favorite Bible verses:
Matthew 22: 37-39.
“Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with
all thy heart, and with all they soul, and with all thy mind’. This
is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor
as thy self’.”
