Karen Sue Agler was born in Amarillo Texas on May 3rd, 1957 to Mamie and Wesley Agler. She died on February 12th, 2026 from complications from septic MRSA at the age of 68 in Lubbock, TX. She grew up in Irving, Texas with her loving brothers and caring parents and graduated from MacArthur High School in 1975. She then received her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Texas A&M University in 1979.
After undergraduate, she worked for a year in a research laboratory before returning to Texas A&M for medical school. She finished medical school in 1984 and moved to Lubbock for her residency at Texas Tech University. After completing her medical training, she spent over 30 years treating patients in various practices across Lubbock, including 14 years at the Veterans Affairs clinic where she retired from in 2021.
Karen loved travelling, especially post retirement, and took her kids and friends on as many trips as she could. She was a single mother who lovingly raised two children that we hope she was very proud of. In 2024, she landed the dream role of her life as Yaya and spent the next year and a half spoiling her granddaughter, Josie, rotten. She was a lover of all pets but especially cats and leaves behind her four precious babies: Bruce, Oliver, Bella and Mushu. Her generosity defined her character and lives on in the lives of her patients, her friends, and her family.
She is survived by her older brother Wesley Agler and wife Teresa of Colleyville, TX; her younger brother Richard Agler and wife Susan of Grapevine, TX; children Jeanne Wehde and husband Jay Dial and granddaughter Josephine of Austin, TX; Wesley Wehde and husband Craig Land of Cumberland Gap, TN; and four nieces and many loving cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Agler, and her father, William Agler.
