

Kathy was born January 28, 1950 in Abilene, Texas to parents Joe and Elaine Favor. Growing up in the small town of Jayton, Texas created a love for school that would lead to her future career. By the time Kathy was in high school, she knew she wanted to be a teacher and inspire others to enjoy learning. To accomplish this, she attended Hardin Simmons University for her Bachelor's Degree and Texas Tech University for a Master's Degree.
In 1972, she began a lengthy and successful teaching career i Secondary English Education, her chosen profession. Her first teaching position was in Pecos, Texas. While there, she taught briefly at the Junior High level before transferring to the HIgh School. She participated in the community by joining the First Baptist Church and singing in the choir. Many life long friendships were established during these early years with adults as well as students. After 20 rewarding years there, she accepted a position in Midland, TX.
Kathy had become a master teacher and was rewarded for her efforts many times in Midland. During her career there, she was selected as the Lee HIgh School Teacher of the Year, The Excellence in Teaching Award from the Midland Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and the 2002 Teacher of the Year by the Region 18 Education Service Center.
During her career she was quoted as saying "I hope my students will cme away from my class with the idea that they can, and want to be life learners." The success and continuing love from her former students is proof that she did her job well.
After 10 years teaching at Lee High School she retired from teaching in Texas; but quickly accepted a teaching position in Carmel, California.
In California, on May 20, 2006, in a ceremony overlooking Monterrey Bay in Pacific Grove, she married the love of her life David Miller, whom se had first met in 1979 when they taught together art Pecos High School. They built many friendships and enjoyed their time living in California. After 10 teaching there, Kathy retired, again and they returned to Midland.
Being a busy and social person, if did not take long for Kathy to fill here retirement days. She became a part-time sales associate for the Midland Talbots store. She delighted in meeting people and working with fashions. Having a flexible schedule gave her the ability to continue her passion for traveling. Kathy traveled extensively in the United States and Europe during her lifetime. She had wonderful memories of trips with friends and family. From river rafting, snow skiing, train trips, Broadway plays, sightseeing and Colorado mountains, Kathy always love an adventure.
Friends and family could always count on Kathy for birthday and holiday cards and greetings. She enjoyed planning gatherings with her extended family as well as impromptu time with friends. She will be missed by many; but remembers for the joy she brought to their lives.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, David Miller, her parents, Joe and Elaine Favor, and a brother, Roger Favor.
Kathy is survived by her brothers Lyndall Favor and wife Ann of Littlefield, TX, Terry Favor and wife Evelyn of Lubbock, TX, and nieces and nephews Kristi Scott, Cody Favor, Joel Favor, Shea Savage, Kelly Chronister, Trey Miller, James Miller and Robin MIller.
