

Kay graduated from Lubbock High and Texas Tech. She married Eddie West June 15, 1973. He preceded her in death in 2011. She taught school in Texico, New Mexico for 19 years. The Wests were active in FFA, 4H, following their sons’ sports, and camping. They were members of Texico First Baptist Church.
Following their retirement from teaching in 1991, the Wests became full-time RV’ers, visiting 45 states, Canada and Mexico. They also lived in Fredericksburg, Texas for two years and enjoyed summering in Colorado. In 2004 they moved to Lubbock and joined Redbud Baptist Church. Kay gave her life to Christ in 1958. She was baptized in Early (Texas) First Baptist Church.
Kay was also preceded in death by a son, Joe, in 2015, as well as her parents and grandparents. She is survived by a son, Kevin and wife Sheila of Erie, Colorado; a son Sam and wife Debbie of Vaughn, New Mexico; and daughter-in-law Florine, of Chillicothe, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth of Pflugerville, Texas; sister-in-law Karen Askew and husband Jerry of Bushland, Texas, and sister-in-law, Mary Williamson of Lubbock. The Wests had 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Southwest Food Bank or to Southwest Parkinsonian Society.
