

Kathleen “Kitty” Burchfield age 90 of Lubbock died Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Kitty was born on July 25, 1923 in Crosbyton, TX to Edgar and Iva Lee Latham. Her marriage to Marvin “Burchie” Burchfield was in Wisconsin where he was serving in the US Navy on July 11, 1942. She worked for over 30 years at S&H Green Stamp Redemption Center in Lubbock. After her retirement she enjoyed working in her ½ acre yard, and going on road trips with friends and relatives. Kitty was an unselfish person always interested in the lives of others and willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Burchie in May 2003, her parents, and her brother Ed Latham of Dallas.
Kitty is survived by her sister Alice Mize, her sister-in-law Imogene Latham; nieces Shirley (Ronald) Strawn, Sandy (Jack) Bains; nephews Ronnie Mize (Dan Annese), Tim (DeLaurie) Mize; Steve (Joni) Latham, Mike Latham, John (Sheila) Latham; great-niece Tracy Fondren; great-nephews Bryan Bains, Michael (Elisha) Bains, Kevin Bains; Tim Mize Jr, Zachary (Ashlee) Mize, Zane (Kiera) Mize; great-great-niece and nephew Beth and Sean Fondren; great-great-nieces Rylee, Karsee, Aubrey Mize. Although Kitty and Burchie didn’t have children they were blessed with nieces and nephews who they treated as their own.
The family appreciates Bobby and Sue Brown, and Dewayne and Jean Hopkins and others that treasured her friendship. Aunt Kitty was fortunate to have lived her last two years at Promiseland where she was cared for by some remarkable women who treated her with love and respect. We appreciate the care given to her by the nurses and staff at Accolade Hospice. Thank each of you for your devotion to her.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Friday November 22, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Services will be held in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Graveside services will follow.
