Kenneth G. Grissom

Kenneth G Grissom died April 16, 2016. He was born in Elk City, Oklahoma and moved to Oklahoma Lane, Texas in 1924. He graduated from Texas Tech in May 1941 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Kenneth flew a Dauntless Douglas dive bomber and was awarded eight air medal and two distinguished flying crosses. Kenneth and Wilma Lee Thompson were married in Dallas, Texas August 14,1945 and lived in Progress, Texas before moving to Shallowater in 1959. He taught school for twenty two years and was affectionately known as Mr. “G”. After retiring in 1982, days were spent playing golf and working out at the Lifestyle Centre. He is survived by his sons, Martin and Philip and daughter Linda Swift; brother, C.W. Grissom and sister, Caryetta Thomas. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, sisters Maxine and Lola and brother, Leon. In lieu of flowers the family recommends donations to the Methodist Church, Kenneth Grissom Scholarship Fund at Shallowater School District of a charity of your choice.
