

Following high school, Ken attended the United States Naval Academy. During his service in the United States Navy, Ken was stationed aboard the USS Midway, traveling throughout Japan, Korea, and the Philippines. It was while in the Philippines that he met the love of his life, Ratna Adhikary. They were married on December 12, 1979, and after Ken’s naval service concluded, they returned to the United States to begin their life together.
Ken will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, love for his family, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He was deeply devoted to those he loved and took pride in providing for his family and creating a life filled with opportunity and experiences.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Ratna Wendling; his children, Kundalini, Kuline, and Apsara; his grandchildren, Kalyani and Katiyana; his sister, Cynthia Waldron, her husband, Russell, and their son, Matthew; as well as his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Rashmi and Sam Thapa, and Kanchan and Antonella Adhikary; and their children, Sraddha and Harmit, Sravan and Sweta, and Marcello and Massimo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and John Wendling, and his son, Kanahaiya.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St Lubbock, TX 79424. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. Committal with military honors will take place Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 4614 E. 50th Street Lubbock, TX 79404.
