Kerry Lee Jackson, 90, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on August 19, 1935, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Robert and Dorothy Jackson.
Kerry's life was defined by his unwavering devotion to God, his country, his family, and his community. He was a man of quiet strength, deep conviction, and steadfast character. Though private by nature, those who knew him best understood the depth of his love and the countless ways he showed it through his actions rather than his words.
Kerry and Barbara were blessed with four children: Becky Carson, Lori Shavers, Tim Jackson, and Susan George. His family continued to grow with nine cherished grandchildren who lovingly called him Pop. He was also the proud great-grandfather of eight great-grandchildren, with another precious blessing expected soon.
Nothing brought Kerry more joy than his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took pride in every accomplishment, milestone, and moment shared with those he loved. His grandchildren knew him as a steady presence, a wise counselor, and a man whose love was constant and dependable.
Kerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. The values he learned through military service—discipline, integrity, and dedication—remained evident throughout his life.
He dedicated countless hours to organizations that improved the lives of those around him, including Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis, the Shriners, the Freemasons, and Gideons International. He believed in helping people without seeking recognition, and his quiet acts of kindness touched many lives.
Kerry was known as a hardworking man who was never afraid of a challenge. He loved working on the farm, spending time on his tractor, and taking pride in a job well done. He found joy in simple pleasures—casting a fishing line into the water, attending air shows, caring for animals, and spending time outdoors. Among all the animals he loved over the years, his beloved dog Lilly Grace held a special place in his heart.
Those fortunate enough to know Kerry will remember a man who was intelligent, resourceful, and remarkably capable. He seemed able to fix almost anything and solve nearly any problem. Family members often joked that if Kerry didn't know the answer, he would come up with one anyway—and somehow make it sound convincing. His quick wit, sharp mind, and sense of humor brought smiles to many faces.
Kerry was a protector by nature. He stood firmly for what he believed was right and cared deeply for the people entrusted to him. He was generous with his time, loyal to his friends, and dependable in every season of life. His example taught his family the importance of faith, hard work, humility, and perseverance.
Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, his legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the family he loved so deeply. His influence will continue for generations through the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed to know him.
Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Jackson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Barbara Jackson; his children Becky Carson (Mike Carson), Lori Shavers (Brett Frazier), Tim Jackson (Leslie Jackson), and Susan George (Rodney George); his grandchildren Chad Carson (Heather Carson), Tyler Carson (Haley Carson), Jonathan Shavers, Jacob Shavers, Reagan Jackson, Katya Jackson, Ben George (Kourtney George), Gage George, and Morgan Hammond (Keith Hammond); eight great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and numerous extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas 79424. Interment will be with at West Texas Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, at 9:00 a.m.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Kerry's earthly work is complete and that he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Scottish Rite Hospital or Gideon International in memory of Kerry Jackson.
