

Kimberly “Kim” Martin, age 65, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas following a brief illness. Born on March 22, 1960, to Danny and Betty Martin. Kim spent her early years in Hereford, Texas, graduating from Hereford High School class of 1978. This community helped shape her wisdom, dedication and understated warmth.
Kim was an accountant by profession, a role that showcased her sharp mind, precision, and thoughtful approach to problem-solving. She was a graduate of West Texas A&M University, where she earned her degree and developed the strong work ethic that guided her career. Kim felt a commitment to doing things the right way and was known for being dependable, thorough, and someone others trusted without hesitation.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, those who knew Kim will always cherish her warmth and humor. Her dry wit often caught others off guard, leaving them smiling long after the moment had passed. Clever and crafty, Kim had a unique talent for creating treasures from others’ trash, always looking for a bargain. Her humor reflected her intelligence and confidence, and she was often amused by the people around her.
Kim was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Scot VanAlstine, who passed on November 5, 2013, as well as her mother, Betty Martin, who left us on September 19, 2001.
Survivors include her father Danny Martin of Lubbock, Brother Todd Martin and wife Lisa of Lubbock, Brother Tim Martin and wife Sharon of Lucus, Texas, Sister Kamille Urbanczyk and husband Chris of Hereford Texas. Nieces and nephews Chase Martin of Houston, Reagan LaBlanc and husband Justin of Houston, Peyton Martin of Lubbock, Hannah Culp and Husband Kegan of Hereford, Hank Urbanczyk of Hereford.
She leaves behind memories of laughter, clever conversations, and a life lived with intention and authenticity.
Kim will be missed by those who knew her and remembered fondly for her intelligence, dry sense of humor, and unmistakable personality.
Celebration of Life will be held on March 21, 2026 at 11:00 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St., Lubbock, TX 79424
