L. Louvee Goolsby

Louvee Goolsby, age 96, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at The Plaza of Lubbock after a lengthy illness. Louvee was born on April 22, 1922 near Hamlin, Texas to Louis Percy and Ola (Jones) Miller. Her family moved near Lorenzo about 1925 and began farming. She attended Roosevelt High School.

She married Waylon Goolsby on July 8, 1943 in Idalou, Texas. Waylon passed away on June 2, 2003. Louvee was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and was a lifetime member of PTA and a member of The Daughters Of The American Revolution.

Louvee was preceded in death by her brothers, Everett, Leldon, Clovis, Alonzo and Alvis; her sister Lillie Jones, and daughter-in-law, Patsy Goolsby. She is survived by sons: Garland (Sandy), Ronnie (Linda), and David; daughter Connie Bray (Gary). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:00 am, with Don Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Biography

L. Louvee Goolsby was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Louvee will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

      Louvee was born on April 22, 1922 in Hamlin, Texas. She was the daughter of Louis Pearcy and Ola Miller. Louvee was raised with six siblings. She had five brothers: Everett, Leldon, Clovis, Alonzo and Alvis, and one sister, Lillie. Louvee was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      Empathic and loyal, Louvee was committed to making her new family happy. She exchanged wedding vows with Waylon Goolsby on July 8, 1943 in Idalou, Texas. Louvee worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. She was blessed with four children; three sons, Garland, Ronnie and David, and one daughter, Connie. Another blessing for Louvee was the gift of seven grandchildren.

      Fortunately, Louvee enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Louvee worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was bookkeeping. Louvee always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

      Throughout her life, Louvee was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her years, Louvee was a lifetime member of the PTA and amember of The Daughters of The American Revolution.

      Louvee’s faith was important to her. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.

      Louvee passed away on January 5, 2019 at the Plaza Nursing Home in Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by sons: Garland (Sandy), Ronnie (Linda), and David; daughter Connie Bray (Gary). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. She was laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.

      Simply stated, Louvee was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Louvee leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember L. Louvee Goolsby.
