LaRue Bernice Golden

A “Very Special Lady” LaRue Bernice Patrick Golden, 91, formerly of Levelland, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 in Lubbock. LaRue was born September 8, 1920 in Floyd Co., Texas. LaRue was the oldest child and only daughter of James Kelly and Catherine “Kitty” Elizabeth (Hawkins) Patrick. She Graduated from Quitaque High School in 1939. While attending Texas Tech, LaRue met the love of her life, Ray B Golden, and they were married June 27, 1941. They had 68 years of true devotion. Ray lovingly was her care-giver from 1994 until his death in 2009.

LaRue was also proceeded in death by her parents and six brothers, Oliver, Walter, Olin, Virgil, Arthur and Roy. Left to honor and cherish her memory are brother, Earl Patrick of Quitaque; sisters-in-law Ann Patrick of Fort Worth, Jo Patrick of Farwell and Lua Pendleton of Amarillo; son James Ray Golden and wife Lena of Lubbock; daughter Barbara Ann Anderson and husband Gerald of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Alan Ray Golden and wife Isa of Grapevine; Rusty Golden of Lubbock; Andrew Anderson and wife Jeny of Wolfforth; Joe Anderson and wife Shanna of Austin; Gina Anderson-Susino and husband Anthony of Basel, Switzerland; nine great grandchildren, Eric Golden, Connor and Brigit Anderson; Nicholas, Samuel and Sophie Anderson; Luke, Nicholas and Andrew Susino; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Many caregivers at Noble Home, Arbor House, Hospice and Odyssey during the past seventeen years have shown loving care. You are appreciated and Thank You.

LaRue was a member of First Baptist Church, Lubbock and she lived a Christian life. She loved her husband, family, friends, gardening, sewing, cooking, music, singing, art, painting, crafts, reading, teaching, learning, fishing, camping, travel, The Fun Bunch trips and helping others. She made the “best apple pies ever” until Alzheimer’s took that away. It never took away her ability to show her love.

The family will receive visitors at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM. Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel, 5740 W. 19th St, Lubbock, TX. The Rev. John Ballard, will officiate.
