

Larry was born September 20, 1937, to Lawrence M. and Helen Mayfield, in Lubbock, Texas. Larry was a proud graduate of Lubbock High School - Class of 1957. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps where he was a Corporal and served honorably.
In 1961, he joined the Lubbock Police Department, embarking on a career in public service that spanned 36 years. Rising to the rank of Corporal, he retired in 1997 after a distinguished tenure dedicated to protecting and serving his community.
After retirement, Larry volunteered with the Adult Day Activity Center, providing transportation, cooking burgers, and helping in any way he could to support the individuals with disabilities and their participation in activities. Larry had a passion for Taekwondo, sports cars, and motorcycles, embracing each with enthusiasm and determination. He enjoyed the thrill of the open road and the power of a fast car.
Yet, above all else, Larry's greatest passion was his family. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved and took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Family was the center of his life, and the love he shared with them will remain his legacy.
Larry met the love of his life, Esther, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and devotion. Their marriage was a testament to true love that will continue to inspire their family for generations.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Mayfield, and his brother, Harold Dwayne Mayfield.
Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Larry Jr. Michael Shane, and David (Catherine) Lee Mayfield; daughter, Robin (Brian) McNeill; and grandchildren, Seth (Rachel) McNeill, Kassidy Mayfield, Mark McNeill, David Jr., and Mason Mayfield.
