

Leland Floyd Tribble, age 91, passed away on June 30,2015. He was born on July 12, 1923 in Oxnard, CA, and grew up on the family farm in Lebanon, MO. He was a Staff Sgt. in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines in World War II. Leland married Betty Louise Oberdiek on August 16,1952. He was a member of Farm House fraternity and received his B.S., M.S., and PhD in Animal Husbandry at the University of Missouri and joined the faculty there in 1956. In 1967 he moved the family to Lubbock as a full tenured teaching and research professor of Animal Science at Texas Tech University. He was rewarded Emeritus status before he retired in 1990.
After retirement he was an avid gardener, volunteered helping Lubbock school children with reading, and answered phones at night for an emergency hotline. Leland moved to Carillon in 2007 and enjoyed being surrounded by the loving, caring staff for many years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Leland was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1983.
He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Kent and Mary Tribble, Alan and Denise Tribble, Karen and Earl Lund, and Greg and Dalia Tribble. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great granddaughters. The Tribble family would like to thank long time friend, Rose Wilson, for her loving care of Leland, and never ending support of the entire family.
