Our beautiful wife, mother and grandmother was born on July 21, 1946, in Amherst, Texas into a loving and probably loud home of 5 daughters, with Linda being the middle child. On October 12, 1965, Linda married the love of her life and husband for more than 52 years, James Earl Hurt, who was always “Jamie” to her, or just “Hurt” when she was riled.
Linda and Jamie lived in Lubbock, adding 2 daughters to their own house and enjoying life with extended family in the area. After her children were in school, Linda went to work at Texas Instruments and retired in 1999 after 25 years. While working there, she enjoyed being a part of a great group of female co-workers and friends. However, she loved her next adventure enormously, working as a part of the Lew Dee & Diana morning show at Ramar Communications for 7 years. Most of all Linda loved being with her family and friends, particularly at the beach in Port Arkansas.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Nora Webb Menard, and her parents, Alvin Jonah and Lexie Whynema McCarty Webb.
She is survived by her husband, her daughter Marie and son-in-law Andy Moore of Richardson, Texas, her daughter Christine and son-in-law Paul Stancil of Orem, Utah, and her four grandchildren: James Ryan Parker, Carter Kathleen Stancil, Luke Jefferson Stancil, and William Lincoln Stancil, who will miss their Granny very much and all of the “Sorry” tournaments and chocolate chip pancakes. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and aides of Hospice of Lubbock and especially Dorothy Oliver.
Online condolences may be offered on our website at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com. Arrangements under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Lubbock, TX.
