She was born in Colorado City, Texas to Clarence Grady and Mary Louise Standefer. She was the fourth of 5 children.
She graduated from High School at the age of 16. She then “got off the farm and went to town” where she began her career in banking. Beginning at the bank of Stanton for 9 years, then moving to Lovington, NM. Spending 13 years at the bank there. She transferred to the First Interstate Bank in Hobbs, NM, during 15 years there, she was operations manager, Branch Manager and Vice President of Lending and a loan officer.
At the age of 49, she received a degree from Southwest Graduate School of Banking in Dallas. Lois also served as the first female President of the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce. She was also secretary of the Cloudcroft Gospel Singing Convention.
Lois was an active and involved mother, grandmother and great-grand mother and leaves a great legacy for her family. She has numerous friends and family that were so very important to her that she made every attempt to stay in touch. She loved traveling, spending winter months in south Texas or vacationing with kids and grandkids. Country western dancing was her favorite form of exercise. She was a faithful servant of God as a member of Kingswood Methodist church in Amarillo.
She was also involved in Recycled Teens, Red Hat Club and Amarillo Area Singles Club.
Lois is survived by her son, John Lee (Pam) of Whitehouse, Texas; daughter Luane Tyler-Lain of Lubbock; Grandchildren, Christopher Lee (Sara), of Lafayette, IN; Patrick Lee (Cassie) of Barstow, California; Bethany Bittie of Lubbock and Brett Tyler also of Lubbock. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren of which she was extremely proud.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday January 23, 2021 at Hosanna Christian Fellowship,
2001 TX-137, Stanton, Texas with Graveside services to follow at 3:00 PM Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 N. Big Spring St., Midland, Texas.
