Jean was born on August 18, 1924 in Melrose, KS to Gaylord and Carmen Brownell. She grew up in Commerce, OK, where she met Bill Neel.
She married William (Bill) Neel on May 26, 1953 in Enid, OK, where they worked together selling military uniforms to Vance Air Force Base.
They moved to Texas a few years later, and continued their uniform business with the USAF base in Bryan, TX.
Their final move was to Lubbock, where they opened a traditional clothing shop on Broadway, called Dom's Ltd.
Their life, love and passion was clothing and caring for "all their Tech Kids". They took them in as if they were their own,
feeding them on holidays when they couldn't get home and always making sure they had a new navy blazer and a few dollars in their pockets.
They moved their store to the mall in the late 70's and continued their business for close to 20 more years.
Bill preceded Jean in death January 3, 1997. After retirement, Jean became an enthusiastic and loyal fan of the Texas Tech Lady Raiders, and rarely missed a game. Jean loved people, babies and especially her cats. She enjoyed golf, football, shopping, and eating out with her favorite girlfriends.
The family would like to thank all of her friends who did such a beautiful job loving and caring for her. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Jean has suggested donations be made to the South Plains Food Bank (SPFB.org), 806-763-3003.
