Loretta Faye Young Smith

A celebration of life service for Loretta Faye Smith, 59, of Lubbock, will be at 2 pm Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Highland Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith passed away Friday, March 23rd.

Loretta was born on February 10, 1953, in El Paso, Texas to Jarruth Marlan Young and Dolores Ann McConnell Young. She graduated from Coronado High School and married Rob Smith in Shallowater in 1985.

Loretta loved cooking, photography, and family get-togethers. She was very spiritual and attune to nature; she loved walks along the beach to look for sea glass, shells and agates. She created Memory Boxes from things she found, crocheted blankets, and made

walking sticks for her grandchildren. She and Rob loved to travel, fish and enjoyed the gift of God found in nature. She was a homemaker and member of Highland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marlan Young.

Survivors include her husband, Rob; 5 daughters, Shawnna, Bridget, Robin, Jaqueline, and Robin Lee-Ann; her mother, Dolores Young; one brother, Jack Young and wife Fonda; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Jacob, Brianna, Tyler, Colby, Emily, Addison, Alaina, Seth, Zachary, Olivia, Breanna, and Trinity; and one niece, Cierra.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Covenant Hospital.
