Lupe M. Cantu

Lupe was born on December 12, 1929 in San Benito, TX to Felix and Francisca Moreno. She married

Jesus Montalvo Cantu, Sr. on February 24, 1957, who preceded her in death in August of 2002. They had

been married 43 years.

She is survived by one brother, Juan Moreno of Corpus Christi and two sisters, Rosa Marroquin and

Petra Gonzales, both of San Benito. Seven sons, Jesse Cantu, Jr. (Sylvia) , Mario Cantu and Bobby Cantu

(Marissa) of Lubbock and Arturo Cantu (Lydia) of Seagraves, Armando Cantu, Sr. (Flora) of Phoenix, AZ, Fermin Cantu (Chom) of Killeen, Jesse Cantu, Jr. of Abilene. Six daughters, Diana Pina (Hector) and

Yolanda Janssen (Otto) of Lubbock and Dalia Suniga (Johnny) and Sylvia Suniga (Noe) of Seagraves Janie Rodriguez (Ralph) of Clyde and Margie Gonzales (Ralph) of Abilene.

She had 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Lupe worked various jobs and eventually retired from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Her family was

her life, as was shown in her devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was a cursillista and a faith

filled woman. She also volunteered at the Catholic Christian radio station. Lupe will be remembered for

her beautiful soul.

A rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00 pm. Funeral services

will be held on Wednesday February 5th at 12:00p.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will

follow in Peaceful Gardens.
