Lyleon Jan Vasek

Born in Littlefield, Texas, to John Wilson and Monte Louise Wilson on May 15, 1941, Jan lived a life centered on faith, family, creativity, and love. On May 13, 1960, she married Bobby Vasek, and together they built a family that brought her joy.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Vasek, and her brother, Jon Wilson.

Jan is lovingly remembered by her five children: Michal Fisher and husband Bob Fisher; Laurel Griffin and husband Craig Griffin; Chris Vasek and partner Dawn Burton; Andrew Vasek and wife Kara Vasek; and Daniel Vasek and wife Abby Vasek.

Jan also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Meghan Oldham and husband James Oldham; Ashley Ashley and husband Brock Ashley; Ryann Hagstrom and husband Matt Hagstrom; Hannah Griffin; Tony Vasek; Amari Vasek; Harrison Vasek; Carter Vasek; Truman Vasek; and Travers Vasek.

Jan’s legacy continues through her seven beloved great-grandchildren: Madison White, Bralynn Burns, Liam Oldham, Blake Oldham, Joy Ashley, Cobie Hagstrom, and Beau Hagstrom.

Jan was a devoted member of Shepherd of the Plains Lutheran Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She found great joy in reading and expressing her creativity through designing knitting and crochet patterns, beading, and coloring—both from coloring books and from her own original designs. She delighted in creating beautiful things and sharing them with those she loved.

To her family, she was more than a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—she was “Gran Jan,” a source of wisdom, encouragement, kindness, and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit, creative heart, and steadfast faith will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will continue to bring comfort and joy to all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Plains Lutheran Church, 5812 73rd Street, Lubbock, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jan’s remarkable life and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.
