
Malcolm Gene Womack died June 24, 2012 after a month long battle with cancer. He was a kind and thoughtful man that loved his family and the God of Heaven. He was an active churchman and deacon at Oakwood Baptist Church. He was born May 14, 1928 in Good Pine, Louisiana. During high school he worked in Bastrop Louisiana as typesetter. At nineteen he moved to Lubbock to work for Lubbock Avalanche News Journal then worked at Dennis Brothers Printing as a pressman. After 10 years of working as a pressman he started Pioneer Printing and Litho. After nearly 50 years Pioneer Printing and Litho merged with Midtown Printing where he extended his printing career. Malcolm continued to work at Exodus Prison Ministry. He taught his family and others the value of hard work and the work of ministries to others. Malcolm also worked regularly at South Plains Food Bank. Organizations he was involved with were: Executive Club, Optimist Club and. Printing Industries Association (PIA).
Malcolm is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Dorothy Womack of Lubbock; daughter, Miriam Pearce and husband Dan of Clovis, NM; daughter-in-law Betty Womack of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Carrie Huber, Ben, Andrew and Abi Pearce, Kevin and Dennis Womack, and Janet Muller: and one brother Harold Womack of McKinney, TX. He was preceded in death by his son, M. Wayne Womack, his brother Edward Womack and sister Mercile Flowers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Exodus Prison Ministry PO Box 6363 (4243 34th.) Lubbock, TX 79493.
Services will be at Oakwood Baptist Church, 60th Street and Avenue U in Lubbock, 10am Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Pastor Marcus Murphy and Dan Pearce will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday June 26 from 5 to 7 PM in Resthaven Funeral Home.
