Manuel Guzman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will forever carry his love and legacy in their hearts.
Manuel was born on October 10, 1939, in Lockhart, Texas, to Ysabel and Manuel Guzman. From his early years, Manuel learned the importance of family, hard work, perseverance, and taking pride in everything he did. These values remained with him throughout his entire life and became a lasting part of the legacy he passed down to his children and grandchildren.
On June 25, 1983, Manuel married his beloved wife, Diane. Together, they shared a life filled with family, hard work, love, and countless memories. Their marriage was the foundation of the family they built together, and Manuel treasured the life they shared.
Manuel was a proud father to Manuel Guzman Jr., Alicia Guzman, and Dolores Guzman. Being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. He was also blessed with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart. His family was his greatest accomplishment, and the memories they created together will continue to bring comfort and strength in the years ahead.
Manuel was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family and serving his community. In 1987, he established Manuel’s Body Shop in Lubbock, Texas. For more than three decades, he dedicated himself to his business, continuing to work until 2020. His shop was not simply a place of work—it was a reflection of Manuel himself: hardworking, dependable, proud, and committed to doing things the right way. Through the years, he built relationships with many people and became known throughout the community for his dedication to his work.
Those who knew Manuel will remember that he took great pride in his appearance. He was always dressed very nicely and carried himself with dignity and pride. Even after spending his days working around cars and in a body shop, Manuel never liked to stay dirty. He believed in cleaning up, looking his best, and presenting himself with pride. It was simply part of who he was. His family will always remember seeing him well dressed, well groomed, and ready to take on the day.
Manuel had a strong presence and a personality that made him memorable to those around him. He was a man who took pride in his family, his work, and the life he had built. He worked hard, loved deeply, and created a legacy that will continue through the generations that follow him.
Manuel is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his children, Manuel Guzman Jr. and Alicia Guzman; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Rosa Pequeno; and his brother, Albert Guzman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dolores Guzman, and his siblings, Ray Guzman, Celia Carrasco, and Ruperto Guzman.
Although his family will deeply feel his absence, Manuel's memory will remain alive in the stories they share, the lessons he taught them, and the traditions he passed down. His life was measured not only by the years he lived, but by the family he loved, the work he devoted himself to, and the many lives he touched along the way.
His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry pieces of him with them—the values he taught, the memories they shared, and the example he set through a lifetime of hard work and dedication. His love and influence will continue to live on through each generation.
Manuel will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
