Margaret K Armstrong, 95, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died peacefully in her sleep the morning of December 22, 2023. She was born September 4,1928 in Texarkana, Texas. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Robert Earl Thompson and Lalah (Dieffenbacher) Thompson of Texarkana, Arkansas, her first husband Earl Baker McAlister (married 38 years), her second husband, Smith Keller (married 10 years), her third husband, Willie D. Armstrong (married 18 years), and her daughter Melita Harris (2010). Margaret is survived by her son, Doyle McAlister, and his wife Nanci, two granddaughters Heather Kahl (husband Michael) and Emily Williams (husband David) all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and one grandson, Uriah Harris of Cedar Park, Texas. She had 6 great-grandchildren also of Colorado Springs. Margaret was a beloved Aunt of her family including Dr. Ron Meeks of Henderson NV. (nephew of Smith Keller), Diane Crecelius and Darlene Morris of Athens, Texas (nieces of Willie Armstrong).
Margaret was a 1945 graduate of Texas High in Texarkana, Texas and attended Texarkana Junior College where she studied business administration. After moving to Lubbock Texas in 1956 she and Baker raised their two children, Doyle and Melita. She worked for Simplex Time Recorder Inc., and later for Prudential Life Insurance in their Farm and Ranch Loan Division before retiring from Prudential. She enjoyed camping, dominos, and card games. Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas for more than 30 years.
In December of 2013, after more than 57 years in Lubbock, Texas Margaret and Willie moved to Colorado Springs to be with their family. Soon after their move they made Heart of the Springs (HOTS) their home church. Both attended church regularly until their health made it too difficult.
Services for Margaret Armstrong were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024, at Heart of the Springs Church located at 2726 N. Union Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO. Officiating will be Dr. Mike Hensley and Mr. Doyle McAlister. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Heart of the Springs Church in memory of Margaret Armstrong.
