Margie Peterson

Etta Margarette “Margie” Peterson, 90, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on January 19, 2017 in Lubbock at the Palliative Unit, Covenant Hospital, Lubbock. She was born on July 20, 1926 in Lawn, Taylor County, Texas to J. J. and Marie Shelton.

Margie graduated from Cooper High School in 1944. She married William Buford Peterson on April 30, 1944. She was a homemaker. They moved to Wayside, then in 1952 they moved to Morton, Texas where she resided for 50 years until she moved to Lubbock. She resided in Lubbock for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother – Jack Shelton, two sisters – Martha Leake and Dorris Cashion, and a granddaughter – Stephanie Peterson.

She is survived by her son and wife, Morris and Marilyn Peterson of Hillsboro, texas; daughter and husband, Kay and Harold Abney of Lubbock; sister Lucile Smith of Lubbock, sister and husband, Fran and Jack Houghton of Saratoga, Texas; brother-in-law Dewey Cashion of Hollister, CA; grandchildren – Scott Peterson, Steven Peterson and wife, Meredith, Koby Abney and wife, Jenny, and Kristen Allen; and nine great-grandchildren.
