Marie was born on March 10, 1933 in Kyle, Texas. She grew up in Lubbock, TX. She married Thomas Olalde Sr. and had five children. They divorced, then later on she married the love of her life Robert "Bob" Dunn on November 11, 1966. The Lord blessed them with a wonderful life and she raised five step-children including her own five children from her previous marriage. Marie and Bob then had their daughter Mary Lou together in 1968. In 1979, after moving to Abilene, she became the hard-working owner of a successful business, Dunn American Cleaners. Which they ran for many years until they sold it and retired, happily spending their free time doing their favorite pastimes such as fishing, playing the slots, spending time with family and taking care of their grandchildren.
Marie loved sewing and cooking, such as making her famous cactus pear jam. Marie was always dressed to the nth degree. She loved listening to Ray Price and dancing to Ramona Ayala and Roberto Pulido. Marie and Bob would volunteer at Rose Park Senior Activity Center, where they participated in all sorts of gaming competitions, dressing up for Halloween, and Hawaiian Luaus. Marie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. Marie’s children and family meant the world to her. Holidays in their home made for unforgettable memories that we will reminisce about for the rest of our years on this Earth. Her joyful energy and warming smile will be sorely missed by all who knew it.
