Surrounded by her children, Marilyn “Gaga” Pierce went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She was born on April 18, 1940 to J.L and Mary Gollihugh (Hale) in Lubbock, Texas. She married the love of her life, Dick Pierce on July 20, 1957 in Lubbock.
Gaga was a charter member of Genesis Baptist Fellowship, where she played the piano and organ, taught Sunday School, and was dearly loved by all, especially the youth group. She was the Regional Administrative Assistant for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services for 17 years. She devoted her life to her Lord, her husband and her family. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a half-sister.
She is survived by her children, Richard Duston Pierce, of Lubbock; and Melinda Suzette McCandles and husband Chris of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on March 4, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel on March5, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Ben Phipps officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Genesis Baptist Fellowship.
