

Mario was born on February 5th, 1973, in Midland, Texas, to Mario A Jimenez Sr and Rita C Jimenez. He built a life centered on dedication to his family, hard work, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most.
Mario’s career was marked by leadership, excellence, and deep commitment. He was promoted to and served as one of the youngest Vice Presidents of Customer Care at Cox Communications for 3 years. He then went on to serve Suddenlink Communications for 13 years as VP of Customer Care. In 2009 He was nominated 40 under 40 of young business professionals who were exceptional in their field. He was also nominated in 2009 by the Latino Leaders Publication as “the One’s to Watch the Inspired Leaders” which tracked outstanding members of the Latino community. More recently, he proudly held the title of Chief Executive Officer of the Jimenez Household for the last seven years, which was his most cherished role. He applied a lifetime of education, experience, and wisdom to raising an intelligent, caring, and loving daughter and being a wonderful and dedicated husband.
Mario’s academic achievements reflected both his intellect, determination and drive for excellence. He graduated from Midland High School in 1991 and Midland College in 1993. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1997, followed by an MBA from Texas Tech in 1999. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.95 GPA and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. Mario was a proud member of the Mensa organization since 1999. He later successfully completed NAMIC Executive Leadership Development at UCLA Graduate school of Management in 2004.
Above all things, Mario was deeply passionate about his family. He treasured time spent creating core memories, especially with his daughter Gabby. She is and will forever be his heart and soul and his greatest achievement in Life. He enjoyed collecting comic books, particularly the Hulk, riding his bike with his daughter, and playing golf as an honorary O’Connor brother. Music was also a constant in his life, with favorites including Metallica, Pantera, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Guns N’ Roses and all things classical. Mario had a fascination with time, its importance in our lives and how we used it. This led to a special appreciation for watches and clocks of which he became an avid collector of.
Mario was an active and generous supporter of many Non-Profit and educational organizations. He was devoted to All Saints Episcopal School where he participated in many events and volunteered countless hours in support. He has contributed to causes such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, March of Dimes, The United Way, Autism Spectrum Resource Center in Corpus Christi, The Kilgoris Project, The American Heart Association, and Doctors Without Borders, among many, many others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Jimenez; his daughter, Gabrielle Jimenez; his stepchildren, Diana Chatman, Gregory Chatman II, Seth Chatman, and Adonus Chatman; his granddaughter, Zipporah Chatman; his parents, Mario Jimenez Sr and Rita Jimenez; his sister, Monica Jimenez-Brown and husband, Stephen Brown; his uncle, Vicente Castillo III; his aunt, Andrea Castillo; and his cousin, Michael Sexton and wife, LeeAnne.
Mario was preceded in death by his grandfather, Vicente Rivera Castillo, and his grandmother, Juanita Moreno Castillo.
Those who knew Mario will remember his deep love for his family, his larger-than-life personality. Mario will never be forgotten as he built a legacy through his daughter passing down and instilling in her resilience, strength, a generous heart, and care for others, especially her family. More than anything Mario will be remembered for his generous heart, and the way he could light up any room. He will also be remembered as a devoted and proud son and big brother. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service honoring Mario’s life will be held on May 23rd, 2026, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Funeral Home, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas 79424. Rosary begins at 1:00pm and the service will be at 2:00pm. All are invited to come and celebrate the Life of Mario.
