Marita Don Reese

Marita Don Thrush Cox Reese, began her life eternal Friday evening, August 18, 2017. Visitation will be Friday, August 25th from 5-7pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday at Bethany Baptist Church in Lubbock with Dr. Kirk Kitchens, Reverend Dan Preston, and Pastor Jerry Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born to the late Glenn Otto and Tobye Rebecca Shuman Thrush on April 18, 1941 in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1959. Marita worked at Reese Airforce Base, KCBD TV, Spikes Brothers Furniture and was a realtor for many years.

She married Billy W. Reese on May 23, 1993. She loved traveling, oil painting, decorating, crafts and the outdoors, especially fishing; "where she always wanted just one more cast". Marita loved Westview Baptist Church, Lone Star Cowboy Church and Bethany Baptist Church where she was currently a member.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Reese and Shannon and Tiffiny’s father, James Arelyn Cox.

Survivors include her son Shannon Cox (Shanny) of Murphy, TX; her daughter Tiffiny Cox Kitchens (Kirk) and her sister Joyce Hargis (Weldon) all of Lubbock, six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marita loved her family and friends and above all, she loved and served the Lord.
