

Marjorie Aleene Brown, 85, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 12th, 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, Dec. 13th, at 12:00 PM, at Resthaven Memorial Park. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, at Resthaven Chapel, with her nephew, Pastor Philip Hilton officiating.
Aleene was the 11th child born to George Henry Hilton and Mittie Mae (Levy) Hilton on May 16, 1928, in Lubbock, TX. She married James Ben Brown on June 16, 1950.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenna Payne and husband Charles of Lubbock, and her son, Jim Brown and wife Cindy of Dallas. She had three beloved grandchildren, Tanner Payne and wife Marie of Falls Church, VA, Jordan Payne of Fort Worth, and Emily Brown of Nashville, TN. She was very proud to be a great grandmother to Eleanor Payne, Falls Church, VA.
Aleene was known for her caring spirit, a great sense of humor, and her strength to overcome many physical challenges. She loved family, friends, music, crossword puzzles, dancing, and playing games. She volunteered for organizations such as PTA, American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.
The family is forever grateful for her loving caregivers who assisted her both physically and emotionally. Special thanks go to her long term caregiver and friend, Nancy Alaniz, who enriched her life in many ways.
