Marlene Ross went home to meet her maker on January 7, 2020 at the age of 86. Marlene was born to W.T. & Berniece Humphreys in Seymour, Texas on October 27, 1933. Marlene married Charles E. Prater at the young age of 15. They moved to Lubbock, Texas where they raised 4 children and started their own business “Prater’s Turkeys”.
Marlene is survived by her sister, Ann Ratisseau; 3 children Debbie Cates, Scott Prater and Julie Fiedler. Marlene lost her first-born child, Chris Prater on January 15, 2011. Marlene was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Marlene did volunteer work with the Lubbock Food Bank, the George & Helen Mahon Public library and also at Covenant hospital.
December 2017 Marlene moved to the Dallas area to be near her daughters and their families. She loved the weekly visits with her girls and all the holidays spent with their families. Marlene resided in a lovely retirement home where she had her own apartment. She lived there with her sweet dog, Molly. She resided there until her passing.

In still moments , may you remember the love and the happy times --and find comfort in these memories. With deepest sympathy. I ate lunch with Marlene and her daughters when they visited her at ParkView. She was a very sweet person and a good friend.
