Martha Lou Riddle Coffey passed away in the early hours of Wednesday September 16, 2026, just hours after her 87th birthday. She was born on September 15, 1939 in Italy, Texas. She was the second oldest of eight siblings.
Martha was a graduate of Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock, Texas. She met her husband, Joe Coffey, on a blind date during her college years. They married on August 25, 1957. They remained married for 59 years before his passing in 2017.
Joe and Martha made their home and built a life in Lamesa. She was an executive assistant to Joe in his CPA practice.
Martha was a fixture at First Baptist Church Lamesa. She was also very involved in the 48 Delphians and the Opti-Mrs Club of Lamesa. Martha hosted many showers and taught Sunday School for decades. Her kindness was felt by all she encountered. Joe and Martha shared their life and gifts with others in many quiet ways.
Martha’s faith, family and friends were everything to her.
Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Rex Server of Lubbock, and her son, Mark Coffey of Austin. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren – Audra Holmes and Dr Justin Holmes and their children Jack, Clark and Ben, and Mason and Laura Server and their children Andy, Claudia and Tony.
Martha is also survived by her siblings – Steve & Nicki Riddle, Ginger Hays, Linda McFarland, Brenda and Tommy Cooper, and Donna Nailon, as well as many cousins and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 am at Lake Ridge Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 am on Monday. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at the Dawson County Cemetery in Lamesa.
