

Elizabeth Ellis died on October 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1940 and was the youngest child of A.R. and Gladys Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Dr. Noel Ellis and Paul Ellis, and a sister, Marjorie Hitch.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Jan Ellis and Gladys Ellis; nephews, George Ellis and Gary Kendrick; niece, Gail Newcome and great nephew Joseph (Kristina) and her second families, the St. Johns, Ryes and Gordons.
After graduating from Abilene Christian University, Elizabeth was a public-school teacher in San Antonio and Lubbock. In 1973 she graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, and after working as an RN at St. Mary's of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock, she became an instructor at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing (Covenant School of Nursing) until she retired 35 years later
Elizabeth’s Journey through this life was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her She played the piano, organ, and read mysteries and always had at least 3 dogs that she loved. but nothing topped the love of her students. Elizabeth had a special gift - she made learning so much fun with her jokes and all the laughter, but she was conscientious, and students wanted to learn what she taught.
Elizabeth was always religious and had an unwavering faith in God. She prayed every night for people, even at the beginning of her dementia journey, and she watched church services every Sunday morning and was a long-time member of the Hi-Robinson Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Organizations to feed the poor would be appreciated.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Bowman Chapel at the First United Methodist Church, with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park
