Mary Ann Maples Rury was born October 6, 1931, to Harmon and Viola Robertson Maples in Shawnee, OK. Her family included her two sisters, Mamie and Margie; and her brother, Jon. She grew up in Oklahoma, Amarillo, TX, and Clovis, NM where she married Donald (Don) Rury in 1948.
On October 6, 2020, Mary Ann celebrated her 89th birthday by moving to the DFW area to be closer to her daughters. Two weeks later, on October 20, 2020, she went home to her Savior. She arrived just in time to have dinner with Jesus, her husband and loved ones.
Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, church activities, and traveling with Don in their motorhome all over the country. They made their home in Clovis for several years, then Arkansas, finally retiring in Lubbock, Texas, where Don passed away in 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mamie and brother, Jon; son-in-law Ray; grandson, Jeremy.
Don and Mary Ann delighted in their family; they have two daughters, Donna Ann Smith and Debra Gail (husband Ray) Conklin; eight grandchildren: Chris (wife Linda) Smith, Corey (wife Donna) Smith, Jamie (wife Linda) Smith, Jennifer (husband Cody) Bailey, Alicia Conklin, Niky (husband Alan) Howell, Jay (wife Rebekah) Conklin, and Jon Conklin; 18 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Kevin (wife Nicole), Timothy, Caroline, Sean, Luke, Emily, Grant, Brayden, Brylee, Jordan (wife Skylar), Jeremy, Justin, Hayley, Alandra (husband Sergio), Aiden, Rainee, and James Ray; also blessed with 5 great-great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Darren, Jayden, Simon and Lilith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
