Mary Lou Clark, devoted daughter, wife, Mother, Granny, friend and baby sister of the Allsup family, passed away at the age of 88 on November 11, 2025.
Mary Lou was born on a farm in New Home, Texas on January 5, 1937, to Sterling and Rothie Allsup. She was the youngest of 11 children. Like all farm children during this time, she had her chores and was responsible for the care of the chickens. This started a lifelong love for everything chicken. She was active in school and enjoyed being involved in basketball, drama, FFA, pep squad and other activities. She graduated from New Home high school in 1955.
Soon after graduation, Mary Lou met the love of her life on a blind date. She married Rayburn Clark on November 24, 1955. They ended up in Virginia for four years when Rayburn was drafted for the Korean war. They both missed Texas and family, and were happy to move back after Rayburns service was complete.
Mary Lou and Rayburn started their family soon after marriage and were blessed with 3 children Kim, Greg, and Nanette. She was a wonderful stay-at-home Mom. She modeled the best habits, manners, cleanliness, integrity, and fun too. She also made sure that the children were well dressed and put together for every occasion. Mary Lou was raised with a deep spiritual belief that she shared with her children and carried with her to the end of life.
Family was important to Mary Lou. There were many trips to visit her mother, brothers and sisters in El Paso and Missouri. Then later, she was always there to attend special occasions for her children and grandchildren wherever it may have been.
Mary Lou loved to travel. Her and her husband Rayburn joined the Airstream Club and traveled all over the United States for 30 years with their airstream trailer. She wrote hundreds of postcards and mailed them to her children and grandchildren with short notes of their latest adventures.
Mary Lou and Rayburn also traveled abroad and took many trips where they included family because they loved to share adventures. They took their last trip at the ages of 85 and 88.
Mary Lou had an amazing, blessed life full of love and accomplishments. Therefore, this is a celebration, for a wonderful life.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 70 years Rayburn Clark. Three children: son Greg Clark, and daughters: Kim Beck and husband Steve, Nanette Blair and husband Craig. Her 7 grandchildren: Byron and Alicia Clark, Kevin and Stephanie Clark, Ashley and the late Chad Whisenant, Jonathan and Lacy Beck, Cody and Jazmin Blair, Kelsay and Vini Blanco and Kyle and Abby Blair. She was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren that she enjoyed immensely.
